Jefferson is a lively, playful Corgi with a big personality packed into his 17‑pound frame. He loves toys—truly loves them—and will happily entertain himself with anything squeaky, bouncy, or tossable. Snow is another favorite, and he'll zoom around with pure joy. He's affectionate, goofy, and loves to lay on his people when he's ready to relax. He's friendly with humans and enjoys meeting new people. With dogs, he's selective—he does well with small, calm dogs like his senior Chihuahua foster brother, but he cannot live with large dogs and must be kept separate from them. He has a strong predatory drive and has shown he can be reactive with big dogs, so a home without large dogs is essential. Jefferson walks decently on leash with some pulling and zig‑zagging, and he'll benefit from continued training and structure. He's almost potty trained and does well on a consistent schedule. He's crate trained, quiet in his kennel, and eats from a slow‑feed bowl. He knows "go potty," "leave it," and "no bark," and he's eager to learn more with positive reinforcement. He's high‑energy, quick, and athletic—he'll thrive with an active adopter who can give him plenty of exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation. He can be vocal when he wants something and has a bit of an escape‑artist streak, so attentiveness and secure handling are important. Jefferson hasn't been tested with kids or cats yet, but because of his energy level and reactivity to larger dogs, older or dog‑savvy kids would be the best fit if children are in the home. Toys and human affection are his love language, and he even has an adorable little smile. Jefferson is a fun, spirited companion who will bring a lot of joy, laughter, and activity to the right home—especially one that understands Corgi quirks and loves a dog with personality. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter's expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***
