Why We Started Rescue Spot
Rescue Spot was founded by animal lover and lifelong rescue advocate Nicole Patrick, who saw firsthand how broken the adoption process had become.
Early in her rescue career, Nicole started an adoption matchmaking service to help potential adopters apply for pets. She quickly discovered how frustrating the system was: outdated listings, endless applications asking the same questions, and hundreds of unanswered emails. Many hopeful adopters gave up altogether — turning instead to pet stores or breeders.
Later, as a rescue volunteer, shelter worker, and eventually the founder of her own nonprofit dog rescue, Nicole experienced the same pain from the other side. Hours were lost chasing down references, sorting through
incomplete applications, searching for fosters and volunteers, and updating scattered systems that never truly solved the problem. Every minute spent on busywork was time taken away from caring for the animals.
That’s why Nicole created Rescue Spot: to revolutionize pet adoption with technology that simplifies the process for both adopters and rescues. With more states banning the sale of pets in stores and more people turning to adoption, the need for a smarter, easier platform has never been more urgent.
