Bo is an incredibly resilient, affectionate senior dog who has already overcome more than most dogs ever should. When Bo came into our care, he was extremely underweight and barely able to walk. Diagnostic testing revealed that at some point in his life, Bo suffered severe trauma to his spine. Unfortunately, we do not know when or how this injury occurred. What we do know is that the damage to his spine is permanent, and he is also experiencing age-related degenerative changes. Despite this, Bo has made remarkable progress. With proper care, nutrition, and support, he has gained significant strength and his mobility has greatly improved. Even more impressive is Bo's spirit-he is a happy, friendly, and affectionate dog who does not act like he's endured trauma and refuses to let his physical limitations define him. That said, Bo's needs are ongoing and not minimal. Bo will require lifelong management of his spinal condition, including: Ongoing in-home physical therapy Careful monitoring of mobility and comfort More frequent and specialized veterinary care than routine annual visits. Because of these needs, Bo must have an adopter who is financially prepared to provide continued medical and supportive care. Bo is also heartworm positive. Due to his spinal condition, he is not a candidate for injectable heartworm treatment. He must remain on monthly heartworm prevention for life, and this protocol must be followed consistently and responsibly. Bo will do best in: A calm, quiet home A household without rough play or chaos A home with low-energy dogs only. He gets along with other dogs but cannot be jumped on or engaged in rough play. He needs an adopter who understands his limitations, respects them, and is committed to meeting his needs for the rest of his life. In return, Bo offers deep affection, companionship, and a joyful presence that proves how strong and loving he truly is.
